Yang+Yin Yoga

2025 SPRING SCHEDULE:

TIME:

Wednesday night,  from 7pm to 8pm (NST)

 

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Classes are ~30 minutes of core strength focused Hatha style (yang) yoga flow followed by ~30 minutes of longer held yin poses.  Work on strength and flexibility while nurturing a mind-body connection.  All skill levels welcome!

 

LOCATION:

Boathouse Wellness Community Room (Shanti Room)

2nd Floor, Quidi Vidi Boathouse - 10 Clancy Dr., St. John’s, NL

Classes are only available in-person.

 

PRICING:

Drop-in fee: $20 for 1 hour class

4 class pass: $60

8 class pass: $110

ABOUT

My yoga practice began in the early 2000’s when I was working as an Earth Scientist at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.  It was my way of incorporating more movement and a seeking deeper connection in my body to counter the sedentary lifestyle of office work.   The pranayama aspects of the classes had an immediate impact on me and I have been hooked ever since.  I continue to practice yoga and have found it to be a significant source of cultivating a sense of community since arriving in Newfoundland in 2006.   

 

I first started the 200-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in 2013 with Shakti Yoga to deepen my personal practice but learned that I very much enjoyed the teaching aspects when completing the practicum hours.  I discovered a passion for sharing the benefits of yoga with others in group and private classes.  To compliment the yang aspects of my yoga training, I completed a 40-hour Yin Yoga Teacher training with Shakti Yoga Method in February 2025.  My goal is to align my teaching aspirations with my enthusiasm for mindfulness, movement, and helping others feel good.
